Mestre Joãozinho da Figueira

Capoeira MarAzul holds a weekly open roda every Friday in West Kensington, London.

MarAzul Friday RodaThe ‘roda’ is the space where capoeiristas get together to play capoeira – a circle with instruments, music, singing, and two players playing capoeira in the middle. It is a social and community gathering, where energy flows between and grows amongst the participants.

The roda is part of the students‘ classes, completing the week’s training programme. MarAzul’s roda is on Fridays and is open to all capoeiristas, from all styles, as long as they appreciate and respect the principles of capoeira and are appropriately dressed (trousers, t-shirt and shoes).

The ritual of the roda is a special moment and an excellent opportunity for everyone, especially for capoeiristas that can share experiences, play games together and make new friendships with people from different groups and different styles.

You are welcome to join our roda do axé!
