More details about Capoeira:
Capoeira is an Afro-Brazilian art form developed by African slaves and their descendants in Brazil. It incorporates dance and fighting movements, music, poetry and theatre in a flowing and acrobatic game played between two people to the rhythm of the berimbau. Capoeira helps develop coordination, fitness, flexibility, strength, balance and rhythm.
Linked with Capoeira are a number of other cultural and sporting activities, including Afro-Brazilian dance (based on the dances of saints from the Candomblé religion), Samba de Roda (the original predecessor of the famous Brazilian carnival samba), Maculelê (a stick-fighting dance) and the Capoeira Roda, where participants come together to practice the moves they have been learning.
