Special Visit - Boca do Rio
Since we started the MarAzul Friday Rodas, we’ve been privileged with the presence of several great names in the capoeira world.
So far, there have been seven special programmes of ‘Friday Axé’, and some very special visits from Masters who have contributed such a lot to the growth of our culture as a whole.
But none of this would have been possible without the word of mouth from the people who come to our events and enjoy this energy that fills us with the pleasure and happiness of living. It was through this dissemination that we have benefited from these special visits, when a Master is passing through the UK. And to reinforce this, on Friday we will receive Mestre Boca do Rio from Zimba Group - Salvador, Bahia in our terreiro, and once again we will have the opportunity of new experiences for our growth in capoeira and in life in general.
With our first contact with Boca do Rio, we could see the black awareness, purity and feeling of this Baiano, who, when he speaks of the ritual and fundaments of Capoeira Angola , he speaks with his soul and with his heart.
Boca do Rio is one of the pure expressions of our African ancestors, who transmits his experiences and knowledge, far from the formal structures imposed by society.
This strengthens the philosophy of MarAzul even more – to value and respect those who, through Capoeira, celebrate and preserve our culture and history in its pure and original form.
So, we wait, anxiously, for another Friday Axé, with the energy and ritual of the social integration of Capoeira.
