Mestre Joãozinho da Figueira

For the next Friday Axé, we have a special double bill to enhance this programme which has already involved a large number of capoeiristas in the UK.

For this third event, our special guest will be Mestre Pacheco, who will be sharing the Friday energy with Mestre Laércio. It will be a great honour for us at MarAzul, and for everyone who enjoys this ritual, to have two Angoleiros in a single night, who are so representative of our art.
Mestre Pacheco represents the purity of our Afro-Brazilian culture, especially of the Capoeira Angola that enchants us all. But Coco, Maracatu, Ciranda, Frevo and many other manifestations from the northeast of Brazil, permeate the body and the soul of this Pernambucano from Olinda, who even when he is speaking in English, still doesn’t lose his northeastern accent, keeping him as pure as if he had never left this cradle of culture that exports artists to the rest of the world.
After many years of experience in the world of capoeiragem in Brazil and in Europe, Mestre Pacheco is now coming to contribute to our programme, through his practical and theoretical knowledge, giving space to our curiosities and aspirations in the world of capoeira.
These are all cases and causes that will involve everybody through a chat after the ritual of the roda. We are sure that once again we will have the opportunity to share experiences that will contribute greatly to our growth both as people and as capoeiristas.
