Mestre Joãozinho da Figueira

Mestre Carlão

It is with great pleasure that we invite all capoeiristas and everybody interested in Afro-Brazilian culture, to the first Special Friday Axé Event of MarAzul Capoeira Group in the UK. We have the honour of kicking off this series of events (which will happen once per month) with one of the great Capoeira personalities of today, both in Brazil in Europe.
After many years of experience in the world of Capoeiragem, Mestre Carlão from Kabula Intercultural Exchange is coming to contribute his experience, knowledge and work, which has always been focussed on researching and studying Brazilian culture as a whole.
His curriculum demonstrates his wealth of experience, from social projects in favelas in Rio de Janeiro, to performances and workshops in international cultural festivals.
With a degree in Philosophy of Art, Mestre Carlão has everything that is most natural to a capoeirista: expression, malícia, gracefulness, ability and objectivity in everything he does, whether inside or outside the capoeira roda.
With Capoeira Angola as his true source of inspiration, Mestre Carlão’s goal is to see our art, and our culture, expressed at the highest possible levels.
We are sure that, by starting this series of events with Mestre Carlão, we will have the impulse for its continuation and for everything else we hope to achieve. Our objective is that with these meetings, the personalities of Masters and Capoeiristas can become known, not only in the roda, but also through their philosophy and experiences. Our special guests will have the opportunity to talk about their experience, their knowledge, expressing their true feelings and allowing the community to get to know them as a whole: their understanding, ideology and personality both inside and outside of capoeiragem.
Come and bring your friends, together let’s value the GUARDIANS of Afro-Brazilian culture, who have preserved and helped to spread our culture to all four corners of the globe.
